Love love love!

Oh and I went up to New York with Brady to see Tara for her birthday.  I got to meet her beautiful and lovely friends and her man again.  Everyone is so nice.  I wish I had more friends in Delaware.  Also Tara inspires me to be awesome.

Lastly, but not least ~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALSO TO HOLLY my best friend, all the way in Texas.  I wish she was just a drive away as well, because I'd love to come see her more often.

I'm thinking about saving up to fly to Texas.

Depressing Morning

So today I woke up at 10:00, which is WAY earlier than I've been getting up lately. There was going to be a free Kevin Devine show in Philadelphia. I'd been so hyped about it all week, because it's FREE. So I leave this morning 1 hour 15 minutes before the show. It's a 45 minute drive. I figure I'll be fine.

So the show's at XPN/World Cafe Live, and the University of Pennsylvania is kind enough to open up some of their lots for free parking. This is excellent, because it's pretty much impossible to find parking in that area. The first time I had gone to see a show there, the parking lot was a little hard to find, but I eventually did, and made it to the show on time.

Except this time, it was a different lot. I had no way of finding the lot. I was already running late because I had to stop for gas, and there was a bit of traffic. So I passed XPN at exactly 12:03 pm. But I couldn't find the fucking lot. I called WCL to see if they knew where this lot was. The girl had never heard of Lot 26. She explained XPN and WCL were separate (yeah, okay.) and she never heard anything about free parking. This was in my invitation. I don't expect everyone to know everything, but I was rather disappointed at how unhelpful she was. I tried calling XPN. It rang and rang and finally made this weird noise, picked up, and dropped the call. So at this point it's 12:25 because I've circled the entire 5 block radius 3 times, and I still can't find this goddamned lot.

I start to cry, because I'm stupid, and decide to just drive the 45 minutes back home, without seeing the show.

So for now on, I'm not going to any more free KD shows. This same thing happened when I sent to see him for free in New Jersey for the first time ever. I ended up being an hour late because I couldn't even find the place. But that was back before GPS when all I had was Google Maps printouts.

Anyway to cheer myself up, I bought Snow Leopard at Apple, and got to see a bunch of my old coworkers and friends. I also went grocery shopping and threw out an entire fridge worth of spoiled food. So I feel like today was productive. Unfortunately, now that I'm sitting here thinking, I'm just really upset that I didn't end up going to the show. Right now I need it more than anything. That sort of thing is the perfect pick-me-up, and I blew it.

As for my vacation…

Registered for courses!

After what was an obnoxious process to get into Japanese 105, I am finally registered for my courses!

Let me explain.  I was getting a weird error message every time I tried to add Japanese 105.  It said something like "GRP should be equal to PL2."  I have NO idea what this means, so I tried asking around, Googling, etc.  I tried adding OTHER elementary language courses, same error.  I tried calling the Registrar, and they didn't know either.  They passed me onto the Foreign Languages and Literatures department, who told me to email someone named Crista.  Well, I contacted Crista, and she said it's because I had 4 years of German in highschool.  So basically I'm too awesome to take any languages.  I've taken almost all of the courses UD had to offer in the German department, but I want to learn Japanese!  She went ahead and added me and now I'm ready to go!

I decided to take the Sexualities & Gender course because I'll be in the company of good people, and it will be awesome to study.  Then, I took History of Delaware, because my mom is a Delaware history genius, and pretty much raised me by teaching me a lot of interesting facts about Delaware.  I called my mom to let her know and she's already familiar with the professor since he taught my little brother as well.

So that's it!  I'm so excited because it's easier now to use your financial aid to pay for things, like BOOKS!  I have $262 worth of books that I'm having delivered to my house.  I chose overnight shipping even.  And they'll automatically update my book list if anything changes.  I don't have to run around half.com like a maniac because they'll handle everything.

Classes start September 1st.  I'm hoping to get all As this semester!

courses!

A Vacation Would be Nice.

Tomorrow I'm heading to Lewes, Delaware for a week's vacation. No more work, no more calls. No more angry customers, broken things, frustrating technology. I'm going with my mother and my sisters and brothers (if they end up coming) and for one whole week I won't have any responsibilities. Not one day, not two days, or three. A week.

I can't tell you how much I need this.

Tomorrow morning, I'm going to try and drag Brady out of bed before noon, get his haircut, then fill my cooler with vegan yummies and head off to the beach.

I will be utilizing my iPhone's tethering skills the whole week, so I will not be losing touch.
